Systems that ingest log data need to rely on network information such as the original sender’s IP address in some cases which is not trivial to preserve in a distributed and segmented environment. Logs often need to traverse load-balancers or firewalls that perform address translations masquerading some or all of the original network information from the receiver. During this session, we are going to demonstrate how syslog-ng can address such scenarios leveraging Proxy Protocol support to make sure that your downstream applications have access to the information they need.
